Facelift

Back in March, I posted this photo of the little townhouse on E 4th Street that stands in the shadow of 52E4.

Things are looking up

I'm liking the way the World Trade Center is coming along.

One World Trade is decked out in festive red and green:

Here it is reflected in another building:

I can finally visit the area and feel cheerful, something I never thought could ever be possible.

The sun always rises

Here he is again, on a different day, relishing his sunbeam.

Another day, another sunrise

This particular corner (Thompson and Spring) gets a nice big dose of sun in the mornings.  On these cold days, it's especially delightful.  Back in March, 2011, I posted about another man enjoying the sun on this block.
Eyes closed, mouth blissfully smiling, he was the picture of happiness and contentment . . . Nothing was going to tear him from that enchanted embrace. As I walked past, I smiled up at him and he continued to grin at the sun. I continued smiling all the way down the block and when I turned back, a shadow had fallen over the sidewalk and he was gone.
Is there something magical going on at this intersection?

New goodies!

[START SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION]

We're happy to announce we're offering new prints for the holidays and beyond!

First up - metallic photo prints.  These look absolutely fantastic!  Using a metallic photo paper gives the images a shimmery and three-dimensional look. Our normally colorful images look really stunning on this paper.

Also new - aluminum prints.  We've been experimenting with different print methods lately and this one is really exciting.  The images are fused onto aluminum, giving them a first-class finish and rendering them virtually indestructible.  The picture will not scratch, peel or fade.  They're light-weight and come with a hanging mount, so no frame is necessary - just a nail or peg.

Want to be a bit more artsy?  We're now offering canvas prints.  These are photographs printed directly on canvas, which can be hung on a wall just like a painting.

For everything we've got to offer, check out our online Etsy shop or take a look at our Photos For Sale page over there on the right.

Please also like us on Facebook to get shop updates.  We promise not to fill your inbox will junk mail or spam.

And, as always, if there is something you want but don't see, please don't hesitate to contact us as we can always customize something for you.

A series of tubes

It's been over a month since Superstorm/Hurricane Sandy hit the city on October 29, so I decided to check in on the Financial District to see if anything has improved.  One good sign is that the Fraunces Tavern has re-opened, but there are still a lot of small businesses that are closed, and there is a ton of clean-up still going on.

Check out these hose-y things devouring One New York Plaza.  I don't really know what they're used for (Suction?  Air-circulation?  Feeding the mother ship?), but they're everywhere and the generators powering them are unbelievably loud.

This reminds me of Aliens.

But nothing can stop the holiday spirit!

Meanwhile, around the corner on Broad Street...

And, this is the scene on South Street, from Whitehall all the way up to the Seaport, which is also still in shambles.

I guess it's a good time to be in the tube business.
