  1. with those bi-fold doors, I wonder if this was once a carriage house or fire house? Perhaps just security doors that were open every day so the shop or store could be open, then closed at night..

  3. This area is full of old warehouses, so I think this might be an old loading dock.

  4. I'm surprised there are any sites like this left in Tribeca. In 1982 my friend Marty (not Peoria Marty) and I sat on a loading dock like one of these on a Saturday night drinking beer and listing to jazz being played at a party in the loft across the street. It seems now like a magical time in someone else's life.

  5. What a cool memory. The area has definitely changed, but there seems to be a lot more architectural preservation going on in this area than in other parts of the city. Although it's full of modern businesses and luxury lofts, you can still feel you're in the 19th century on many of the streets.
