Fledgling update

As of this evening, there is still one hawk left in the nest at the Christodora.  I'm wondering if it's happy to have the place to itself - room to stretch out, no sharing food, peace and quiet...

There was some concern last night over the second fledgling as it seemingly disappeared atop CHARAS on 9th Street.  However, neighbor Jessica sent in this photo of the young hawk dozing on her air-conditioner nearby.

And early this morning, wide-awake...

Late this afternoon, I found Shaft in a tree in the park.

A short while later,

Meanwhile, the fledgling from the air-conditioner took a stab at exploring the trees near the nest.

But, ended up frolicking atop the familiar CHARAS.

Two down, one to go!

  1. thank you so much for posting these pictures. I like to keep up with the hawks now that they're no longer on the nest.

  2. Don't worry, you may go a day or two before finding either of the fledglings. There are so many odd hiding spots on the tops of the buildings, out of view from the street. But they'll turn up! :)

  3. Both Shaft and the second fledgling have been staying on the same block as the nest. We were able to watch all three hawklets last night while standing in one place. So far, the birds are making it easy to keep an eye on them...
