Summer rain

How beautiful is the rain!
After the dust and heat,
In the broad and fiery street,
In the narrow lane,
How beautiful is the rain!

I was sleeping, gently napping when I heard the phone
Who is on the other end talking, am I even home
Did you see what she did to him, did you hear what they said

Just a New York conversation rattling in my head
Oh my, and what shall we wear, oh my, and who really cares
Just a New York conversation, gossip all of the time

Did you hear who did what to whom, happens all the time
Who has touched and who has dabbled here in the city of shows
Openings, closings,
bad repartee, everybody knows

Oh, how sad and why do we call, oh I'm glad to hear from you all
I am calling, yes I am calling just to speak to you
For I know this night will kill me, if I can't be with you

Now and then on West 13th Street

One of my favorite corners in Manhattan is W 13th Street and 10th Avenue.  I've always been attracted to the beauty of its used-and-abused colorful grit.  I've not spent much time in the Meatpacking District in recent years, but I decided to take a walk around there today and see how my old corner is holding up.  To my surprise, it's not changed much in the last decade.

David Peel & the Lower East Side

David Peel and the Lower East Side band played this last weekend as part of the 25th anniversary of the Tompkins Square Park riots.

Here is one of my favorite numbers, Die Yuppie Scum!

And the ever-popular, Marijuana:

The Coffin Daggers in Tompkins Square

I caught The Coffin Daggers, playing this last weekend as part of the 25th Annual Tompkins Square Park Riot Anniversary concert series.

They've got an awesome surf-punk sound - have a listen:
