Return to the Chillmaster

This is looking to be the Summer of the Chillmaster!  Thanks to Marty After Dark, I had the chance to visit the Chillmaster again where we drank, danced and were merry.

A toast to the Chillmaster!

Apologies to Shawn, but I feel his dance skills must be shared:

A great time was had by all and I'm really looking forward to the next party.

Last Friday at Mars?

It's been a ritual for me to drop in on Mars after work every Friday. It's the highlight of the week - seeing friends and catching up with people I only know through Mars. The thought of losing them really makes me sad.

Goodbye...

At some point, the place stole my heart...

I don't want to leave

I know that much of what I've written about Mars in the last six months has been glum. The slow death is agonizing and I almost want it to end quickly so I can move on.

After all, "If you spend your whole life waiting for the storm, you'll never enjoy the sunshine."

And a farewell to Ruby's...I really don't know if I'll be back this summer before they (and all the other Coney Island boardwalk businesses) are put out to sea.  This is how I'd like to remember it.

Reminder: Mars art show this Sunday

Come on out for the end of days...one last hurrah...

The scream

This Sunday also happens to be Father's Day, so why not treat Dad to an afternoon he'll never forget?  Art, entertainment, booze and lounging around...what could be better?

It will also be your last chance to patronize Joe's Locksmith, so go ahead and make all those key copies you've been putting off for so long.

American beauties

I was out for a walk in Soho the other day when I stumbled upon a stretch of Mercer Street that seemed to have time-traveled back a few decades.  It was lined with a fine collection of American classic cars, no doubt being used in the filming of Men In Black III.  I've never been a big automobile fan, but I have to admit, these beauties made my day.

Bonus:  rusted clunkers in front of Gourmet Garage, which I found funny.

And, a day of cars wouldn't be complete without a soundtrack:
