Thanks everyone - I really do enjoy these turtles and, since posting this, two more have appeared in the pond. Unfortunately, people are dumping their pets here, which they probably think is a good thing, but the turtle-keeper told me that the little ones may not survive the winter.So, to anyone out there thinking of getting rid of their turtles by setting them 'free', please adopt them out to someone who can care for them. Better yet, rather than buying a turtle you can't handle, why not visit these at the 6th Street Community Garden instead. They are friendly and you can pretend they are your pets. They love visitors.
