Friday afternoon at Mars

For the past several years, I've spent the majority of my Friday afternoon/nights at Mars. It was a ritual for me and, despite Mars closing almost two weeks ago, I can't keep away.

I had the day off work, so what better way to spend it than to sit on the sidewalk with Hank and watch the world go by on 2nd Avenue?  Until now, I usually went inside to wile away the time.  But, today, I sat outside as long as he did.

There was no shortage of company...

    Nice to see there's still a crowd at Mars Bar even though it's closed. Great photos!

    It's funny, but I keep running into regulars outside on the sidewalk. Just last night, I ran into someone I've not seen since before the closing and I asked him where he's spending his time. He listed several bars, none of which are the same as any of the other alternatives I've found.

    This really feels like a family that has been split up by divorce or some disaster - I now find myself having to make an entire bar crawl just to see all the friends I used to be able to hang out with in one room. So, I really hope there is a Mars 2 so we can reunite.
