Just a few hours after last night's snow storm, the Tompkins Square Park hawks put on another spectacular show. Three birds dove, frolicked and soared over the park, often racing around so fast, I couldn't capture the action. Here are a few outtakes.

Ooh ... love that first one especially!
ReplyDeleteThanks! This was such an incredible day - I've never seen anything like it. The birds were riding the post-blizzard winds and really seemed to be having fun. They chased each other, did somersaults, and at times, hovered motionlessly in the air. I still can't believe we get this free wildlife entertainment right in the middle of a dense urban area. More to come...
ReplyDeleteI'd hardly call these outtakes! Beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteYou've got to come visit, the hawks, Marty! I've seen them in the wild, but always at a distance. Here, they are so close, it's remarkable. They're wild creatures, being their wild selves, right here in one of the most urban areas on the planet.
