The sun always rises

Here he is again, on a different day, relishing his sunbeam.

Another day, another sunrise

This particular corner (Thompson and Spring) gets a nice big dose of sun in the mornings.  On these cold days, it's especially delightful.  Back in March, 2011, I posted about another man enjoying the sun on this block.
Eyes closed, mouth blissfully smiling, he was the picture of happiness and contentment . . . Nothing was going to tear him from that enchanted embrace. As I walked past, I smiled up at him and he continued to grin at the sun. I continued smiling all the way down the block and when I turned back, a shadow had fallen over the sidewalk and he was gone.
Is there something magical going on at this intersection?

Previously.

I think you could do a whole series here! These photographs are haunting, and I love the composition, with the background and shadows.

  2. There are several people I see nearly every day and I'd love to do a series. I started something like that when Bowery was part of my morning commute. I took pictures and a little video of the restaurant supply guys who talked to me every morning. Unfortunately, most of them have now been displaced, and I do feel a sense of urgency to document moments like this.
