This last St Patrick's Day, I sat quietly at the bar and watched the snow fall all afternoon. For me, that was heaven.
I enjoyed the casual cozy atmosphere - snug and warm in winter, dark and cool in summer.
I liked to go in when Leo was working. He played the best funkadelic music and mixed a mean greyhound.
The crazy decor...
And, yes, the FOOD. Say hello to the chicken parmesan, big enough to share and take home.
Here's to another memory.

RIP, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so maddening. We all know that the replacement probably won't last too long.
ReplyDeleteYet another place I can't return to when I come to visit. Glad I got to see it while it was still there.
ReplyDeleteSo long Odessa. Thanks for the fond memories. See you soon Leo!
ReplyDeleteA lovely tribute. The Ukrainian/Polish restaurants & bars here have always meant comfort to me, and it's so sad to see them dwindling. They make me think of the Polish and Ukrainian friends no longer around, of family, and just the smell of the food, the feel of the places make me think of the sheer joy of getting here almost thirty years ago. They connect me to how the city felt then, & I am completely at home. I'm horrified at the thought of the Stage maybe disappearing too.
