Goodbye 2011

I can't say I'm going to miss 2011.  It was difficult in many ways, which included losing too many people and places that were important to me.

On a good note, I met several new people this year who have been the bright spots in an otherwise dark year.  You know who you are and you're all stars!

I'll leave you with one of my favorite scenes from a great EV/New Years Eve movie - 200 Cigarettes.  I tried embedding it, but that doesn't work, so here is Christina Ricci and Gabby Hoffman arguing about the horrors of crossing onto Avenue B.

Happy New Year!

  2. 2011 was truly a bipolar year. Riding high one moment, shot down the next. I've never seen 200 Cigarettes and loved that clip, I need to watch it! Here's to a good 2012! Happy new year!

  3. Here's to 2012!

The movie is out of print, but you can watch it on Youtube or find a DVD online. I also have it, if you want to borrow it. It's a must-see for Martha Plimpton and Elvis Costello fans. :)

  6. I remember seeing 200 Cigarettes being filmed on Avenue A in what is now that Yuca Bar but was before that amazing old school diner who's name is escaping me. Loved discovering your blog. Happy new year and here's hoping that 2012 will be so so much better!

  7. that movie is awful, but also worth watching for the record of the time in which it was shot. isn't there a long scene in Leshko's?
