It's no secret, I'm a big fan of Mulchfest. The fresh evergreen smell wafts around Tompkins Square for weeks afterwards and I just can't get enough of it.
What mortal can resist the siren song of the wood chipper?
I didn't notice until I viewed the video later, but Christo the red-tailed hawk can be seen in the upper left of the frame, just above the silver pipe on the chipper. He is perched on a branch just above the nest he and Dora constructed in October.
The chipper's gift:
This pile smells absolutely divine.
It lures everyone into its embrace, as seen here in a photo taken two years ago. I wanted to join her, but someone had to hold the camera.
